You discover your true capabilities only when you have no choice under the existing circumstances to go a little bit beyond your ‘normal capabilities’. You would have to change your normal mindset to do so.
If you practice meditation of some sort, you need to put yourself in a challenging situation where you have no choice but to meditate absolutely in earnest. In other words, if you just want an ‘easy mediation lesson’, you are unlikely to discover the true meaning of mediation.
The same can be said about almost anything in life. Faced with adverse circumstances, you may feel that you have no choice but to go beyond your normal capabilities to discover a way out. When you do so, you are likely to discover not only new power in you but also a new horizon in your own identity as a human being.
Meditation should be an unconditional experience. In unconditional mediation, you will see yourself in a new light. That will be a spiritual awakening.
In a spiritual awakening, your mind is totally integrated with yourself, including your personal history, and all of the circumstances you live under, including seemingly unfriendly conditions around you. If you are overprotected by your lifestyle, a spiritual awakening is unlikely to happen.
